Slowly the world is witnessing a slow turnaround towards the stabilization of the economy post covid-19. The economy of India has touched a sweet spot with the BSE SME IPO Index delivering the highest return last year. Steadily fund-raising options are emerging in India, & the local companies are lacing up their boots to raise funds to meet its 몭nancial requirements. For India, a developing country, SME’s are the wheels of the wagon which turn the economy, contributing to one-third of the GDP of India. SME’s comprise a signi몭cant segment of India’s economy & its contribution to GDP, employment & experts. People are investing in SME’s which not only aid in growing their businesses but also help in growth of employment opportunities. The appetite is growing for IPOs of these companies due to excellent growth trajectories, Useful valuations which are marked well. Nonetheless, this sector is full of obstacles, which also includes a need for timely credit availability & limited access to equity capital. These small industries have heavily relied on bank 몭nance to meet their working capital requirements, but the equity funds have to be brought in by the promoters of the enterprises. The segment also faces challenges of regional & national level bankers as 몭nding the right one is a challenge in its own right. The BSE SME IPO index reached new heights in 2022. Alternately, the capital market is stuck at the same place where it was at the start of last year with the sensex at 57, 897 & closing at almost 60, 910 with an annual return of 6% by the year end. The hole of 2022 has been volatile in terms of generating returns. In this case, an index representing India’s growth story emerged as an out-an-out winner in generating returns. The BSE SME IPO index 몭nished with an annual return of 67% in 2022. The BSE SME IPO index is followed by the BSE power index at a distant second but at an annual return of 25%.
