  1. Article4: Horizontech.com Principles Of Cloud Computing Due to its ability of offering rapid access to a large pool of software and hardware resources to a wide variety of users – cloud computing is now being rapidly adopted by a growing number of academic and business communities. Infrastructure-as-a-Service is probably the most preferred cloud based services among a large number and variety of services available to users from all over the world. Cloud computing can also be considered as an effort towards turning computing into a saleable commodity and also towards its efficient distribution and operation in order to offer consumers a plethora of available alternatives. Industry professionals now prefer to define cloud services as a process of delivering computing resources as a service over a network. Principally cloud hosting services require being highly available, reliable and easy to use. Apart from offering high performance they must also be scalable and fault-tolerant and users must also be able to economically and efficiently manage, monitor and provision the services they use. As more and more organizations are opting for cloud based services and a huge amount of data is being uploaded everyday there is a requirement for introduction of major hardware changes for efficiently provisioning computing resources. Data center consolidation is considered by experts as the most important enabler for efficient resource provisioning and providing high quality of service. Deployment of data centers and aggressive sharing of computing resources bring in a couple of key benefits for cloud computing like lower cost of using and provisioning computing resources and reduced time-to-market. A cloud service provider allows its consumers to pay for resources only when they use those and when not in use the provider allocates the resources to other users. This not only allows the provider to host multiple users or tenants within the same infrastructure but also to more efficient resource utilization leading to increased return on investment. This win-win relationship between the cloud service provider and the consumer is the major reason why a growing number of companies are now switching to cloud architectures. Another reason behind the growth and almost sudden popularity of cloud based services is their elastic nature, for service providers can easily scale up or scale down according to the need of the situation. This is particularly a great advantage for start-up companies who are now using cloud computing for reduced time- to-market and also less up-front risk to stand up. Some of the most important systems related cloud computing principles is multi-tenancy, statistical multiplexing and horizontal scalability etc. Apart from these systems principles, there is also a number of economic principles known to play a determining role in design of profitable, sustainable and scalable cloud computing systems. As cloud computing is getting increasingly commonplace and more cloud providers are entering the market, the economic principles of cloud computing are expected to play a bigger role in the coming years and the key to successful market designing will be the proper alignment of the incentives of the buyers and sellers with that of the system.
