  2. History and Founding of Tau Kappa Epsilon Founding Expansion Legacy TKE was founded in 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan University by six men who shared a vision of brotherhood and service. TKE rapidly expanded across the country, establishing chapters at universities and colleges. Today, TKE has over 200 chapters and thousands of alumni who continue to contribute to society.
