  1. DOGS COME IN A HUGE RANGE OF SIZES

  2. If there is one thing for sure it is that dogs come in a wide range of sizes. In that respect they are very different from humans. After all, humans are generally between about 5’ and 6’ tall. Certainly, there are exceptions, but the vast majority of us are within those heights. Dogs, on the other hand, have a huge range according to the breed. They may be very small, such as the Shih Tzu or Chihuahua. In fact, the Chihuahua is the smallest breed and weighs between 4 and 6 pounds and is between 5” and 8” tall. A Shih Tzu is not much bigger. The smallest recorded dog ever was a Chihuahua named Miracle Milly who was 3.8” tall and weighed about 1 pound! English Mastiff On the other side of the coin, the largest dogs are the St Bernard weighing between 120 and 180 pounds, and the English Mastiff. The latter is normally between 120 and 230 pounds. However, the record (according to the Guinness Book of Records) is an Old English Mastiff by the name of Zorba who, in 1987, was 8’ 3” from nose to tail and weighed in at no less than 343 pounds – that’s 24.5 stone! Can you just imagine what his food bill must have been?

  3. And, of course, there are breeds of everything in between. Nobody knows exactly how many different dogs there are because some breeds are not recognised by International Kennel Clubs. Not only that, but some people have been breeding crosses that might, or might not, be classified as a new breed. However, it certainly runs into some hundreds. All of which is that, when you are looking for a harness for your dog, you need to get an adjustable harness. This is not just to do with the breed type, but also allows for the fact that your dog may grow somewhat, so it makes sense to by an adjustable harness which can allow for this. Of course, another point is that you want your dog to look great in his, or her, harness or collar which is where we come in at Goody Paws. Here you have a choice of wonderful patterns. Not only that, but our harnesses, collars, and leads are designed as sets, so that they all match: your dog will be the envy of the neighbourhood! Check out all our collections and find the perfect match for your pet.
