Passive Optical Networks: The Backbone of Future-Ready Telecommunications

A Passive Optical Network (PON) is a last-mile technology used by telecom companies and internet service providers to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet. The technology has evolved from Ethernet (EPON) to Gigabyte (GPON) and Next-Gen PON, consisting of an Optical Line Terminal (OLT), Optical Network Terminal (ONT), and Optical Distribution Network (ODN). The growing demand for fast, reliable connectivity and expanding fiber networks have increased PON applications, particularly in Fiber to the X (FTTX) and mobile Xhaul.
