MATEC’s Mission:

Since 1988, MATEC has sought to increase the number of health care providers in our region who are effectively educated and motivated to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage HIV infection.

  • Major funding from HRSA Ryan White CARE Act (over 80%)

  • Additional grant funding in some States (State/Local Health Departments, etc.)

  • Program Income and Small Program Contracts in some States

    • Provides virtual library of online training resources for adaptation to meet local training needs


  • Warmline/PEPline/Perinatal Hotline (UCSF)

    • Telephone consultation for HIV clinical management, post-exposure prophylaxis management, and perinatal HIV issues.

  • National Minority AETC (Howard University)

    • Focus on capacity building of minority clinicians and agencies to provide HIV care

  • National Evaluation Center (AIDS Policy Research Center at UC San Francisco)

    • Works with AETCs to develop and implement evaluation models and strategies
