  • 1956: Moved to Netherlands to complete college

  • “Medical Education” at the University of Amsterdam, with internship in Anatomy and in Pathology

  • 1966: PhD thesis and graduation in Medicine

  • 1963: Married Mies Bloemkolk, his fellow medical student

  • 1966-1968: Resident in Pathology Wilhelmina Gasthuis University Hospital

  • 1969-1970: Training in Cardiovascular Pathology, St. Paul, Minnesota with Jesse E. Edwards
