  1. Ear Plugs For Protection from Loud Noise Anyone that has ever been exposed to loud noise, whether that is loud music in a club, or the noise from machines and engines in the workplace, knows that it can lead to much more than an ordinary irritation to their ability to hear properly. In serious cases it can actually cause permanent damage to a person’s hearing – even deafness. The same is, therefore, true for those individuals and groups that are exposed to the sounds of gun and rifle fire. These sounds are, indeed, not natural for the human ear and precautions should always be taken to ensure that the worst effects are eliminated or, at least, reduced. Therefore hearing protection should always be considered, even under circumstances when loud noise is not ongoing, but only becomes an issue at specific times – such as when hunters and other shooters are exposed to unacceptable levels of noise. In some cases, such as with factory workers, the damage takes time to take effect. But with shooters and during, say, fireworks or explosions it can happen instantly for permanent damage to be caused. Therefore many employers will indeed see to it that workers wear some form of shooting ear protection, even though this is not a directive followed in all countries, or even in all states of a specific country. Even if workers are protected in some or other form, it is not true for those individuals that go out hunting or taking part in competition shooting – or any other activities where guns and rifles are fired near them. These people are responsible for their own protection in terms of which they have to find the best methods or products to offer them the assurance that they are not in danger of having their hearing damaged, either partially or permanently. There are choices out there to look at. For example, a popular protective device is the earmuff that has been around for a long time. They are worn over the ears and attached to the head fairly tightly so as to help absorb loud noise. Different variations of the ear muff will see some wear a pair of muffs mounted onto a helmet – often in factories and the workplace; even shooters may want to give this a try as well. Then there are still smaller, easier to use products such as a few choices of earplugs, whether you use plugs that are attached to cords or a band. These ear plugs are worn inside the ear, not over the ear as is the case with the muffs. They, the plugs, are normally put inside the ear canal to seal the canal and block out sound. With the plugs it can happen that after a while – even within minutes – they become loose and the wearer

But, as happens all the time, newer systems and products are constantly introduced to the market as more and more advanced options become available. A perfect example is the type that is molded specifically according to the ear shape of the individual person they are meant for. These devices are custom made for the user, which means no two devices are the same, since no two ears have the exact same contours. These are also often fitted with electronic features to set them apart from those that merely block out all noise, to offer users features which allow them to hear certain sounds, even if they do not hear loud noise. This category is gaining ground all the time among those users that are happy to pay more for an advanced product. There are choices out there for buyers; it is advised for all shooters to look at the options, since everyone is offered protection from loud, harsh noise.
