  1. What technical aspects distinguish a Volvo wheel loader? Volvo wheel loaders are known for their durability, but they’re also known for their cabin comfort. What is it about Volvo wheel loader parts that makes this difference? Here, we discuss the technical aspects of Volvo loader parts and Volvo machinery parts more generally and what gives them the characteristics they’re known for. For most modern-day manufacturers from which you could buy your machine parts, the quality of materials themselves is rarely ever the defining factor. If the dealer you are purchasing maintenance parts from is reputable and have sourced their parts from a similarly reputable manufacturer, then the material quality of, say, the plastics of cabin components is not likely to be that noticeably worse than OEM parts. So, where does the difference come in? The work that Volvo puts into testing its components and parts before they are marketed and sold by dealers is a defining difference. The testing and design process carried out in product development is specifically with Volvo machines in mind. Take, for instance, the bucket teeth on a Volvo wheel loader which are designed to self-sharpen over time to retain their cutting profile. Or cabin air filters which have a huge impact on operator comfort and safety, especially on

  2. worksites. Whatever the component may be, Volvo has done the legwork to ensure that it will perform properly, and not just once but for as long as feasible. Volvo’s design considerations are holistic. When they design Volvo loader parts, it is designed to integrate seamlessly into the whole machine. They account for the interplay between components, so you get the most out of your machine. As an example, Volvo bucket teeth are not just designed to stay sharp with a self-sharpening profile but they are also engineered to maximise the machine capacity. Their hammerless bucket tooth locking system is designed to make locking teeth easier and safer. Plus, with Volvo’s knowledge of their machines, they know the bucket adaptors are protected by the low profiles they have designed on their bucket teeth, which also provide the best penetration. As a result of all of these considerations, Volvo teeth have a longer wear life, reduce fuel consumption, and create a higher productivity. Volvo have also considered a broad array of potential circumstances of use for bucket teeth. The wear caps which are secured over the top of the adaptors are designed specifically for tough conditions like loading rocks. In these cases, the wear caps prevent serious damage to the adaptors which would otherwise damage them enough for them to need replacing. Replacing a wear cap on an adapter is a lot easier, quicker, and cheaper than replacing the adapter itself, especially if any damage caused to the adapter results in the tooth jamming in place. No one wants to extricate a bucket tooth from a damaged adaptor to find out both parts are damaged beyond easy repair. Volvo have also upped their game in the materials area. Volvo bolt-on edges, cutting edges, side plates, and segments are now made from 500 Brinell hardness steel, which they say results in an increased service life of 70%. And the backbone of the bucket or attachments is the TP-Linkage system, unique to Volvo. This system is designed to provide increased breakout and lifting forces. (Breakout force is a measurement of the amount of force that a wheel loader can apply at the tip of its cutting edge, bucket teeth, or ground engaging tools more generally.) The TP in TP-Linkage stands for Torque Parallel. Being parallel in the force applied is important for combining versatility with strength. You can attach not just a bucket to the front of a wheel loader but several other attachments, all of which use the TP-Linkage system, such as forks. Volvo has taken its reputation for durability to the max with its Volvo slag handlers. These wheel loaders are kitted up to deal with the intense heat, toxic fumes, and heavy dust dealt with in steel and metal mills. The next-level of durability comes in the form of heat-resistant oil lines and fuel lines, as well as material to guard the operator, such as fire-protective material and lots of guarding. Volvo considers all the risks of slag handling and deals with them accordingly, including protection on their slag handling wheel loaders to protect from slag explosions and debris and objects falling or being blown into the machine. Volvo wheel loaders come in all sorts, from the compact versions to the massive loaders with bucket capacities of 12.7 cubic metres. Whatever the application that the wheel loader will be used for, Volvo has designed their machines to last as long as they can. And with proper care

  3. and maintenance, including considering Volvo wear and maintenance parts as an option designed specifically for your machine, your Volvo machinery parts are certain to last for years. Volvo’s design mission is to create a machine to suit your needs, wherever and whenever you have them. And that’s the kind of ingenuity you can rely on.
