  1. Varicose Veins Symptoms and Causes Twisted, swollen veins are known as varicose veins. Any superficial vein (one that is close to the skin's surface) can become a varicose vein. Leg veins are most usually affected by varicose veins. This is because standing and walking put more strain on the veins in the lower body. For many people, varicose veins and spider veins, a common, minor variation of varicose veins, are primarily an aesthetic issue. Varicose veins may cause extreme pain and anguish in others. Sometimes, more severe problems can be brought on by varicose veins. Symptoms Sometimes varicose veins don't hurt. Varicose vein symptoms include: ● ● Bluish-purple or dark purple veins. Twisted, bulging veins that frequently resemble cords on the legs. Examples of uncomfortable varicose vein symptoms and signs include: ● ● ● ● ● Legs that are heavy or aching. Muscle cramps, throbbing, burning, and edoema in the lower leg. After spending a lot of time standing or sitting, pain gets worse. Itching around a vein or several veins. Skin tone variations close to a varicose vein. Varicose veins and spider veins are similar, although spider veins are smaller. Closer to the skin's surface, spider veins are frequently red or blue in color. Both the face and the legs can have spider veins. They are available in various sizes and frequently look like spider webs. Whenever to visit a doctor Consult your healthcare provider if self-care measures haven't relieved your concerns about the appearance and sensation of your veins. Causes Weak or damaged valves may be the cause of varicose veins. Every part of the body receives blood from the heart through the arteries.Through veins from the rest of the body, blood is returned to the heart. Gravity must be overcome in order for leg veins to return blood to the heart. Elastic vein walls and muscle contractions in the lower legs assist blood return to the heart. Small valves found in veins allow blood to flow toward the heart and close to stop it from flowing in the opposite direction. If these valves are weak or damaged, blood can flow backward and pool in the veins, stretching or twisting the veins.
