  1. Everything You Need to Know About the Kidney Donation - Dr. Vipin Tyagi

  2. What is Kidney Donation? kidney donation is when a healthy person donates one of their kidneys to someone who has failed kidneys and need a new kidney to survive. Humans have two kidneys, yet living a normal, healthy life requires only one healthy kidney. Donating a kidney can help someone live a longer and healthier life.

  3. Who Can Donate a Kidney? Most healthy persons between the ages of 18 and 60 can donate kidneys. Before donating, doctors will do various tests to check your general health. These include blood testing, urine tests, and scans to ensure that your kidneys are functioning properly and that the donation is safe for you. You must be mentally and physically prepared to give.

  4. Types of Kidney Donation There are two main types of kidney donation: Living Donation: A healthy person donates one of their kidneys while they are alive. Often, it’s a family member or close friend, but living donations can also come from someone who chooses to help a stranger. Deceased Donation: A kidney is donated after someone has passed away. Their kidneys are donated to people who are waiting for a transplant.

  5. Is Kidney Donation Safe? Yes, donating a kidney is usually safe. The surgery is performed under general discomfort, and most donors remain in the hospital for a few days. You can normally resume normal activities in 4 to 6 weeks. Donors can lead healthy, active lives with only one kidney. Regular check-ups are necessary to ensure that everything remains healthy following donation.
