How to Tune Up Your Button Machine Our button machines have proved to be extremely reliable, doing some preventive maintenance from time to time will keep your machine functioning smoothly and producing high-quality buttons. This guide will show you how to "tune-up" your machine and how to get it unblocked in the event of the button's part stuck inside it. If the machine you are using is jammed, you shouldn't attempt to take the dies off with any object. You will most likely cause harm. Don't try to disassemble your machine because you'll be unable to re-assemble it and have it function properly, and you could well damage it in the process. Doing a tune-up To do a tune-up, you will first need to collect a few things. You'll require: A 7/16" wrench along with a silicone spray-lubricant container, a 3/16" allen wrench, and some paper towels. Step 1: Spray a little silicone spray to the locations that are marked with an arrow in the image. You don't want silicone spray on your buttons if you use excessive amounts. Step 2: Next take the handle, and move it up and down up to six times. The silicone spray should be integrated in the crossbar on top, where the bolts pass through. Also , spray some silicone on the area where the handle connects to your button machine. Make sure to do this on the other side of the handle, and also. Step 3: Turn the pick up die and crimp to ensure they are positioned. Use the paper towel you spray with a tiny amount of silicone spray, and rub it on the beveled edge of the Crimp Die. This helps to prevent an issue where the mylar disc isn't crimped tightly and has a bit of a "bubbled" glance at the edges of your button. The silicone spray can allow mylar to move smoothly. This last step can be repeated if your mylars aren't as tight as you would like. Step 4: Now, rotate the pick-up die such that the top die is directly over it. The handle should be pushed down until the upper die is able to slide into the middle of the pick-up die. Step 5: Use the 7/16" wrench to tighten the top bolts. DO NOT over tighten the bolts, because doing this could damage your machine.
Step 6: Spray some silicone spray onto a piece of paper towel. Spread it on the outer plug of the die's upper. Spray a little silicone on the base plate, where the dies will rotate. This will allow you to move the dies as you are making buttons. Don't do it too often, or you could end up with the whole thing on your hands. Step 7: Turn the machine upside down and use the 7/16 wrench to tighten the brass colored bolts. Don't tighten them too tightly since it could cause damage to the machine. Step 8: Lastly, locate an allen wrench that will fit inside the "Flat Head Bolts". Then, loosen the Flat Head Bolts and then tighten them. Be careful not to tighten them too tightly because this could result in damage to your machine. This is it.
