They do not have the ability to learn or adapt, and they do not retain any memories of past events. Examples of reactive machines include Deep Blue, the chess-playing computer that defeated world champion Garry Kasparov in 1997, and self-driving cars. Limited memory: These AI systems have some ability to remember past events, but they are not able to learn from them. For example, a self-driving car might be able to remember the location of a stop sign it has seen in the past, but it cannot learn from its past experiences to become a better driver. Theory of mind: These AI systems have the ability to understand that other people have their own thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.
