<br>Punjab University, Chandigarh, conducts the (Punjab University General Entrance Examination) PUCET every year. It conducts entrance examinations to admit students to various UG and PG courses. Various students are admitted to obtain Bachelor of Science degrees in this examination each year. Candidate eligibility requirements depend on the subjects they choose for PUCET, and they don't have to prepare for subjects that aren't relevant to the field they select.   2. Introduction • Punjab University, Chandigarh conducts Punjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) every year. It holds the entrance exam so that it can admit students to various UG and PG courses. This exam is conducted every year to admit students seeking admission to getting a bachelor’s degree of science under a variety of disciplines. The PUCET UG is for students seeking admission to various undergraduate courses. In conclusion, the PUCET PG exams are for students who want admission in getting admission in PG courses. • Candidates need to have a 10+2 as the minimum qualification so that they can be eligible for the PUCET UG exam. • The eligibility criteria to appear for PUCET depends on the course the candidate is opting for so students need not prepare for subjects that are not relevant to their choice of field. • To appear for the exam, candidates need to register to the Punjab University website. After doing so, the candidates can download their admit cards on their release.

  3. PU CET Exam Eligibility Criteria • The eligibility criteria for the PUCET exam is different for the PUCET UG exam and the PUCET PG exam. Students need to keep in mind that these eligibilities are strict guidelines set by the government. Students may apply for the respective exams only if they are eligible to apply. • For PUCET UG • Anyone applying for PUCET needs to have a 10+12 qualification under the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or an equivalent degree to be eligible for the PUCET UG exam • Candidates must have subjects of Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology in their 10+2 board syllabus to be eligible for the exam • Students should be of age 17 as of 31st December 2021 to be eligible to appear in the PUCET UG exam. • The nationality of each student applying must be Indian. Students who are NRI can apply through the NRI quota. • NOTE: It is important to note that the Punjab University, Chandigarh, derecognizes students appearing for the Mahila Gram Vidyapeeth, Allahabad 10+2 exam. The students passing from this University are not eligible to appear for PUCET (BHMS) exam. To find the list of universities recognized by Punjab University, visit the official website of PU CET UG.

  4. PU CET Exam Eligibility Criteria • For PUCET PG • Students must possess a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree. Also, they must pass the degree with an aggregate of 50-55% depending upon the degree for which the student is applying. • Students in their final year can also apply for the PUCET PG exam provided they pass their degree exam by the time of admission. • The seats for reserved categories such as Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes are allotted based on the Chandigarh administration guidelines as well as Punjab University rules. • For physically handicapped students, the below criteria is followed • 1st preference – Candidates suffering from Locomotor disabilities of Lower Limbs. The range of disability eligible is from 50% to 70%. • 2nd preference – Candidates suffering from Locomotor Disabilities of Lower Limbs The range for eligibility is from 40% – 50% • Candidates that have the condition leading to blindness, including colour blindness are not eligible to appear for the PUCET exams. Also, candidates who are deaf or dumb cannot appear for the PUCET exams.

  5. PU CET Exam Syllabus PU CET Exam Pattern • The syllabus of the PUCET UG exam mainly consists of the 10+1 and 10+2 syllabus of Punjab University. These subjects are solely based on the Science stream. The subjects included are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics depending on the selection of course by the student. Students are advised to follow prepare for the PUCET UG exam based on the syllabus. • Mathematics • Chemistry • Biology • Physics • The syllabus for PUCET PG varies greatly based on the choice of course of the student. You can also click here to get a detailed yet brief idea about the syllabus. • The PUCET exam is objective and is conducted offline. The language of the exam paper is in English and each subject is allotted 70 minutes per subject. Following are the key points about the exam pattern of PUCET • The number of questions per subject is 60 questions and the marks allotted per question is120. • There is a negative marking for each incorrect answer. For every correct answer, 2 marks are awarded while for every incorrect answer 0.5 marks are deducted. • The number of subjects for each candidate varies based on the course they have chosen. Therefore, the total marks also vary. For example, a student opting for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics would be scored against 360 marks whereas a student opting for Biology, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics would be scored against 480 marks.

PU CET Exam Admit Card • The admit card is released few weeks before the exam date. • Students are required to keep themselves updated on important dates such as the release of admit cards. • Admit card of PUCET needs to be downloaded. • The student must take multiple printouts of the admit card and keep them safe. • The Admit card contains important information about the candidate such as roll number, name, gender, subjects opted for etc • Students need to carry their admit card along with one valid photo ID proof such as an Adhaar card, Driver’s License, Pancardetc to the examination centre to appear for the PUCET exam

PU CET Exam Result • The results for PUCET would be declared tentatively in September. • Students can download their scorecard from the official website on the results being released. • Note that the results will not be individually mailed to students in their email ID. The scorecard needs to be downloaded from the official website only. • The answer key to the PUCET question paper is declared few weeks after the exam. In case the student finds any disparity in the marks they are given and the answer key, they can mail their grievances to the Punjab University authority within 2 days of the results being declared.

  9. How ToApply? • Step I: Registration Process • Visit the official website of Punjab University which is www.puchd.ac.in • Enter all the details that appear on the screen. Enter your mobile number and email id correctly and check twice if the entered details are correct or not, especially your phone number and email Id. The University will contact the candidate via their number and email ID. • The candidate will receive the login ID and password on their phone via SMS as well as Email. Save these important credentials for future use. • Step II: Application Form • On successful registration, students can log in to their account by using the credentials sent to their number as well as email. • Now, students must fill in all the details asked correctly. The University does not provide an opportunity to correct mistakes in the application form after submission. Therefore students should check the entered details twice before clicking the submit button. • Enter your academic details correctly as well. • Step III: Documents Upload • Upload a scanned copy of your photograph, signature as well as thumb impression. • Make sure the files are in the mentioned file type (example pdf, jpg) and the size of the files are within the mentioned size range. • Save and confirm on correct uploading.

How ToApply? • Step IV: Payment • After filling out the form, pay the exam fee via SBI Challan. • Make sure to print out a bank slip. • Candidates have to submit this online generated bank slip in any branch of SBI bank. Candidates can also pay the fees along with submitting the slip within one day after printing the fees slip. • The application fee for PU CET 2021 is INR 2100 for General category candidates and 1050 INR for SC/ST/Blind category candidates. • The application fee is non-refundable. • After the complete filling of the application form, take the printout of the application form and keep it safe.

  11. ImportantFAQ Q1.Does the PUCET exam have negative markings? A. Yes. The PUCET exam has a negative marking system. For each incorrect answer, 25% of the marks allotted for the correct answer is deducted. The penalty for wrong answers is 0.5 marks Q2.How can I prepare for the PUCET exam? A.
