  1. What do I do if I find Flea Dirt? Fleas are gross and irritating pests that not only infest your pet but can multiply and cause havoc to them and you as well. These pesky parasites can make your pal feel uncomfortable for days or even weeks if the proper treatment method is not conducted. To know whether your furry pal has fleas or not, one can look for the presence of flea dirt. What is flea dirt? Flea dirt is basically the feces of fleas which are the mixture of blood and flea waste products. These roundish black pepper-like specks can be spotted within the fur or skin (mostly near the tail and belly areas) and are one of the first signs that your fuzzy friend has the dreaded fleas. Is flea dirt a big problem? Since flea dirt is arguably the first signs that your pet is infested with fleas, it definitely is a problem. Though, if you quickly act upon it and get your buddy examined by a vet, the problem will not be a major cause for concern. Thus, as soon as you spot flea dirt, quickly act on it. How to get rid of flea dirt? Anything to do with fleas is never good including flea dirt. These creepy critters need to be eradicated as soon as they are spotted. Here’s how you can get rid of flea dirt. Mandatory • A lovely bath with anti-flea shampoo is a good way to start getting flea dirt removed. • Once done, wipe your pal’s body with a clean towel to dry his fur. • Once dried, grab hold of a comb and thoroughly brush his fur coat to remove all the dirt.

  2. Coat brushing does not completely remove all the dirt. Hence, ruffle your fingers through your buddy’s fur before brushing the fur once again. Optional Once you’re done with the mandatory points, your task doesn’t end there. These optional points are equally important and pet parents can opt for any if not all of these points. • Applying flea sprays like Effipro spray, Frontline spray, and Ultrum Ultimate flea spray can not only get rid of flea dirt and fleas but also assist you in protecting your pal from re- infestation. • Oral treatment can also be given. Potent flea killing tablets such as Capstar can be given to eliminate fleas and flea dirt within 24 hours. If you notice tons of flea dirt over your pal’s body and despite trying all the above points, they are still minutely present; in such a situation we highly advice you to get contact your local vet. The vet will examine your Fido or Feline and only after that, he can come up with a solution.
