Most of the time, we probably don’t even realise we’re performing this function, but it’s vital to how we perceive the world.   3. How visual hierarchy translates to website design If you think of the way that newspaper headlines work, they display the main headline with large typography and then a smaller sub-heading. That’s because not all of the information on your website will deserve the same level of importance, and therefore, attention. The key to effective website design is to attract users’ attention. By highlighting specific parts of your site, such as a firm call to action, you will give that element prominence over others.
