  1. Blog1: berani.ca An Overview of All Omega Speedmaster Apollo Models When the Apollo XI Lunar Module sent astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the Moon on July 20th, 1969, the Omega Speedmaster Professional was with them, worn by the latter. This is why this iconic timepiece is also known as the ‘Moonwatch.’ NASA got the Speedmaster references 105.003, 145.012, and 105.012 from Omega when these timepieces earned official qualification for use by astronauts during extravehicular activities. For years, Buzz Aldrin wore the Speedmaster 105.012, the first among the Speedmaster Omega watches to make it to the Moon. Legend has it that Armstrong left his watch on board the Lunar Module as the board clock malfunctioned. NASA continued to use Speedmaster references 105.003, 145.012, and 105.012 throughout the entire Apollo program. The 145.022 also qualified for later Space Shuttle missions from 1978. 2. Blog1: berani.ca As you browse for watches for men & women online, you’ll find that there are more Omega Speedmaster Apollo models available today. Each watch has a unique story and features that set them apart from other Omega watches you can buy. The Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 is a mechanical hand-wind or manual timepiece with the OMEGA Calibre 1869 in a black ceramic case. It comes with leather straps and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and case back. The 44.2 mm watch has a power reserve of 48 hours and water resistance up to 50 M. It features a Chronograph and Tachymeter. Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition was made only in 1,014 pieces. The watches were inspired by the Astronaut Appreciation Dinner in Houston, Texas where the gold Speedmaster BA145.022 was given to NASA astronauts. The new model features the one-of-a-kind alloy, 18K Moonshine gold, a vertically-brushed gold dial with onyx hour markers, and a bezel in burgundy ceramic. The watch is manually wound, and driven by the Master Chronometer Calibre 3861. The Speedmaster Apollo XI 20th Anniversary Edition timepieces were released in 1989. These are stainless steel watches with an extra black Velcro strap and the 20th-anniversary badge. The case band also featured an engraving, and the timepiece came in a special wooden box. Only 2,500 Speedmaster 25th Anniversary Edition watches were released in 1994. Similar to the 1989 model, they had an engraved case band that read ‘Apollo XI 1969 –1994.’ Omega also released the watch in limited editions such as white gold (500 pieces) and 50 numbered platinum pieces, skeletonized by Armin Strom.
