  1. STEPS YOU SHOULD TAKE BEFORE BODY WAXING 1 EXFOLIATE Exfoliate the area to be waxed 24 hours before your appointment. This will remove any dead skin cells that could interfere with the wax and make the process more painful. 2 NO LOTION Do not apply any lotion, oil, or moisturizer to the area to be waxed on the day of your appointment. These products can make it hard for the wax to stick to the hairs, causing an uneven waxing or making the process more painful. 3 HAIR GROWTH Allow your hair to grow to about 1/4 inch long before waxing. If the hair is shorter than that, the wax may not be able to grab onto it properly. 4 TAKE SHOWER Take a shower before your appointment to clean the area to be waxed. However, do not use any soap or body wash on the area since they can make the skin more sensitive. 5 PAIN RELIEVER If you are particularly sensitive to pain, you may want to take an over- the-counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen, 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
