  1. Breaking Some Myths About The Sunglasses

  2. Myth-1 • Darker the tint or shade of the glass, better the protection from the UV rays. • Fact • It doesn’t matter how darker your glasses are or what is the colour of your glasses. Sunglasses with darker tint provide the same UV protection as the lighter ones because the layer of UV protection which the lenses are covered with does not have any particular colour. Also, UV rays are not anyhow related to the brightness of light that dimming it would protect you from its effect.

  3. Myth-2 • Sunglasses should only be worn when it's sunny. • Fact • If you have purchased the sunglasses to protect yourselves from the harmful UV rays, then you must wear them every time you step out of the home during day time. It is often believed that these harmful UV rays only come when the sun can be seen which is not true at all. These rays are also present when the sun hides behind the clouds. Although they are not visible, they do affect our eyes. UV rays penetrate the eyes and the skin around it, even if it’s cloudy. So, sunglasses should be worn all the time even if it’s sunny.

  4. Myth-3 • Children do not need sunglasses. • Fact • Children are the ones spending more time outside in the sun rather than their parents and hence are exposed to the UV rays more. So, it is important for them to wear 99% UV protection sunglasses to give more effective protection to their eyes.

  5. Myth-4 • Sunglasses are just a fashion accessory. • Fact • Although Sunglasses these days are being used to pep up the fashion quotient, their primary use is to offer protection and if it is purchased from a good source like Lenskart where you get so many varieties to choose from it could also compliment with your personality and make you look fashionable.

  6. Myth-5 • Sunglasses in winter are not necessary. • Fact • The winter sun which is a good source of Vitamin D is no good for the eyes. The UV rays emitted are still harmful; therefore, you need your glasses. The amount UV rays emitted in winter are equal to what is emitted in summer, and thus there is no point of saying that people don’t need sunglasses in winters. So, sunglasses are important irrespective of season.

  7. Since the time when Sunglasses were first introduced, they have never gone out of fashion. Be it for the protection from UV rays or just as a fashion statement, the popularity of the sunglasses has only grown. Although the concept of glasses was started with the spectacles which enhanced the vision of the people with weak eyes but now, eyewear is a separate section of fashion accessories.
