  1. Holy Week

  2. WE COME TO GOD IN PRAYER Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!

  3. WE PRAY PSALM 88 Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you. May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. In the cross of Christ I glory.

  4. I call to you, Lord, every day; I spread out my hands to you. Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do their spirits rise up and praise you? Why, Lord, do you reject me and hide your face from me? In the cross of Christ I glory.

  5. Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me. All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me. You have taken from me friend and neighbour – darkness is my closest friend. In the cross of Christ I glory.

  6. GOD SPEAKS TO US My thoughts are not your thoughts, declares the Lord. My word will not return to me empty.

  7. (see seasonal Bible reading guide, or other Bible reading)

  8. WE CONFESS OUR FAITH

  9. (Apostles’ Creed, scriptural song, or hymn/song)

  10. WE PRAY FOR OURSELVES AND THE WORLD Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

  11. By the mystery of your incarnation; by your holy life and your bitter suffering and death; by your crown of thorns and purple robe of mockery; and by your unjust condemnation: Lord Jesus, save us.

  12. By your bearing of your own cross; by your dreadful crucifixion; by your patience and humility; and by the love with which you loved us to the end: Lord Jesus, save us.

  13. That being dead to sin, we live to righteousness; that we take up our cross daily and follow you; that sharing in your sufferings we also share in your glory: Lord Jesus, save us.

  14. (Other prayers may follow)

  15. Almighty God, we continually stumble because of our weakness. Strengthen us by the suffering of our Lord and set us free from the bondage of our sins; through your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.

  16. WE PRAY THE LORD’S PRAYER

  17. GOD BLESSES US May Christ our crucified Saviour draw us to himself, so that we find in him the assurance of sins forgiven and the gift of eternal life. And the blessing of almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be with us always. Amen.
