ABOUT THE TEACHER • Born in Ohio and raised in Venice, Florida • Graduated from University of South Florida, BA in Social Science Education. • Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from National Louis University • Live in Englewood, Florida • Three children ages: Faith-14, Sydni-16, Brock-18. • Husband is Ryan, Athletic Director of Lemon Bay High School

Family Access Portal • Student & Parents need to check grades • Give teacher time to grade, email if necessity • For students and parents to add or change an e-mail address they need to: • Log on to the Portal and select their child • In the top right corner of the screen click Settings and choose Alerts from the dropdown window. • On this screen, in the section entitled “E-mail to”, parents can add up to 3 e-mail addresses to receive information.  They can also get weekly grade reports, or select to be e-mailed when their child has missing assignments.

  7. Encourage Responsibility • STUDENTS should check the board daily, the website, and/or contact a study buddy with questions • If there is a concern, STUDENTS should try to resolve it with the teacher first • Help STUDENTS to accept responsibility for homework and workload 

  8. Tests • Given at the end of chapters to check understanding (summative) • Notes important • Vocabulary/Key Terms • Semester 1 - Benchmark and LEOC from County 20% • Semester 2 – EOC from State 30%

  9. EOC Students must pass an “End of Course” examination in order to get credit for this class, regardless of what grades they have earned over the previous 4 quarters. Course Grade — Each student’s performance on the Civics EOC Assessment must constitute 30 percent of the student’s final course grade. The method for applying this requirement will be determined and applied by each school district.
