INTRODUCTION TO E-WASTE • E-Waste refers to discarded electronic and electrical equipment such as computers, phones, and TVs. • India is the third-largest e-waste generator globally, producing over 3.8 million metric tonnes annually. • Major contributors: IT & Telecom, Consumer Electronics, and Household Appliances.

  3. ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH IMPACTS • Contains toxic elements like lead, mercury, and cadmium. • Improper disposal causes soil and water pollution. • Health hazards for informal workers include respiratory, skin, and neurological problems.

  4. REGULATIONS AND RECYCLING PROCESS • E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 introduced Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). • Producers are responsible for collection and recycling of waste. • Recycling Process: Collection → Dismantling → Segregation → Recovery → Safe Disposal
