An Insight into Oracle Fusion Patching and Testing Readiness Traditionally in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), a patch is a fix, a quick repair job, or a piece of programming designed to resolve functionality issues, improve security, and add new features. Throughout its lifetime, the software gets frequent errors called bugs which produce unexpected results, and a patch is an immediate fix to those problems.  Applying modifications to the Oracle Fusion Applications environment is called Oracle Patching. We need patching to solve security vulnerabilities, improve performance, fix bugs, and add new features. Continuous patch application minimizes incidents where bugs are encountered. Oracle Fusion Patching Tools OPatch: It is an Oracle utility tool that helps organizations with the process of applying patches to Oracle’s software and rolling back.   FASPOT: FASPOT is used to arrange the installation of the P4FA bundle patches. It has certain guided preparation steps to follow while applying bundle patches.

For minor patch releases, Oracle typically provides a one-week advance notification before patching the test environment, and for major update releases, Oracle provides a two-month advance notification.  • A document with the detailed information is shared with the admin informing about the released patches and the same get uploaded on the Oracle Cloud Release Readiness website.
