Establishing and running a successful business comprises many stages starting from dealing with the manufacturers to getting orders, reaching out to the customers etc but all of this work goes to vain if the transportation part of the business is on the weaker side. One can use various means of transportation to haul their goods from point A to B but the most common way is by road through Cargo. To make it clearer, there are two different cargo transportation: normal cargo and ODC cargo transportation.

February 17, 2021  Establishing and running a successful business comprises many stages starting from dealing with the manufacturers to getting orders, reaching out to the customers etc but all of this work goes to vain if the transportation part of the business is on the weaker side.  One can use various means of transportation to haul their goods from point A to B but the most common way is by road through Cargo.  To make it clearer, there are two different cargo transportation: normal cargo and ODC cargo transportation. One might wonder the reason of using the term ODC Cargo transportation, it is to safeguard the commuters on the road and the government has developed regulations to prevent accidents on the road.  A cargo which obtrudes out of the loading deck comes under an ODC cargo.  The freight rates differ and are calculated depending on the dimension of the cargo used for transportation. Following the government norms If you are looking into using Cargo transportation you need to make sure that the service provider follows the government norms related to safety.  According to different sources it has been established that a rigid truck should be of 12 meters in length or are using articulated trucks which are not more than 16 meters in length.  As for the width it should be lesser than 2.6 meters and the height should be less than 3.8 meters. To avoid any mishaps on the road it is important to keep these norms in mind before using an ODC Cargo Transportation and stay away from any hindrances which may create a hurdle in your transportation process. Using the railways for transportation of goods Other than cargo transportation one can also use the railways.  Before you opt railways, it is important to learn about the rail freight transport in India. Using the railways is the safest and energy e?cient methods of transportation all sorts of goods. Railways produce 80% less CO2 than the road transportation.  They are a major part of the logistics supply chain and carry goods in bulk in speci?cally designed cars.  They are the fastest and safest way to transport goods over long distances although it does require transshipment costs especially if direct rail access is not available.
