  2. What is a suffix? A suffix is something that we add to the end of a word that changes its meaning.

  3. -S can be added to nouns as a suffix. This tells us that there is more than one noun. one dog two dogs

  4. -es can be added to nouns as a suffix. You can hear when a suffix is -es and not -s because the -es makes an extra syllable in the word. foxes buses

  5. -ing, -ed and er can be added to verbs as suffixes. For example: pull pulling pulled puller

  6. -er and -est can be added to adjectives as suffixes. These help us to compare. fast faster fastest

  10. Take note of these general rules when it comes to suffixes: • Adding a suffix usually changes the class of the word • Adding a suffix can mean the class of the word remains the same but the meaning of the new word changes. • Adding a suffix can cause a spelling change.
