  2. What is Dropbox and How Do You Use It Free ? Dropbox is intended to be a background application. It creates a folder on your computer that backs up and syncs your files across all of your devices, as well as storing them in the cloud so you can access them from any computer, anywhere in the world. Dropbox may be use to back up crucial information, access documents when switching from a desktop to a laptop, share files with your team, and transmit massive files that are too large to send by email. We’ll walk you through how to get start with Dropbox in this lesson, and we’ll cover the following topics: • Download the Desktop App. • Files added • Uploading Files from the Internet • Using the Mobile App to Download Files • Other People’s Files to Share • Activate the camera upload • Selective Sync should be enable.

  3. Note:Although the screenshots and directions in this video are for Windows and Android devices, the processes will be similar on MacOS and iOS. Dropbox Free Download The magic happens in the Dropbox desktop app. You’ll get a Dropbox folder on your computer after you install it, just like any other folder you have. Within it, you may build subfolders, and everything you put in the folder will sync with the app wherever you install it. • You’ll need to download the app to get started. To do so, take the following steps: • Sign up for a Dropbox account on the company’s website. • Click Download Dropbox, save the file to your computer, and then run it. • You’ll be asked to log in after a short while. Use the same email address and password that you used to create your account. • Open my Dropbox by clicking the button. You can choose to make files local or online-only after clicking Next through a few quick intro pages. Because the latter is a paid option, you’ll generally want to go with a local. We’ll go over the online-only option in more detail later.

  4. Your Dropbox folder will open once you’ve made your selection, and you can begin adding files to it. Any file you save in this folder will be saved to the cloud as well. You’re good to go if you repeat this method for any other PCs you want to sync files between. As long as both computers are connected to the internet, if you add a file to your Dropbox folder on one computer, it will appear on another computer as soon as it downloads. You may also log into Dropbox.com to find your files if you’re not near your machine. On one machine, you might not have as much space as you do on the other. If your laptop’s hard drive is smaller than your desktop’s, for example, you may not want to sync everything to both machines, especially if you have some very large files. One alternative is to select the online-only option that you saw throughout the registration process. How to Add Files to a Shared Dropbox Folder The procedure for syncing files is simple once you have your Dropbox folder. Simply save files to this folder as you would any other folder on your computer (File > Save > Select folder).

  5. All of your files will be saved to your PC right away, then uploaded and synchronised to all of your Dropbox-enabled devices. You don’t have to do anything for this to happen in the background, but there are a few indicators to look out for to confirm it. The Dropbox symbol will show a blue syncing icon in the lower-right area of your screen. (On a Mac, this will occur in the toolbar at the top.) A little window will appear when you click the icon. An indicator will appear at the bottom of this screen, indicating how many files still need to be synced and how long it will take. The Recent Files tab at the top of this window displays a feed of the most recently synchronised files. This is a very useful approach for locating a file on one machine that you recently saved to another. If you lose your internet connection, the Dropbox icon will be greyed out and the status indicator will read “Connecting…” until you can rejoin and complete the syncing process. You’ll always know if your files are accessible on any device this way. https://cloud-drive-customercare.com/how-to-use-dropbox/

  6. Why can’t I upload files to Dropbox From Web? When you’re not on your own computer, one of the best reasons for utilizing Dropbox is to save files. Instead of emailing something to yourself, you can upload it to Dropbox (i.e., Dropbox.com). This approach can also be used to browse, view, and download files that have already been uploaded. Follow these instructions to access your files or upload new ones while you’re not using the Dropbox app on a device: • Log in to your Dropbox account by going to Dropbox.com and clicking Sign in in the top-right corner. You can browse and preview your own files here, or download them to your current device. • To add new files, select Files from the blue Upload button in the top-right corner. • Your Finder/Explorer will launch. Choose Open after finding and selecting the files you want to upload. Why can’t I download my files from Dropbox? The Dropbox mobile app for Android and iOS differs from the desktop version in a few ways. It will allow you to browse your files in the same way that you would on the internet. However, because most phones have limited storage, they will not download copies of the files locally.

  7. You’re good to go if all you need to do is view files from your phone, which should include things like photographs, documents, and PDFs. However, you may need to save a copy on your phone in order to share it using other apps, such as messaging or email. Follow these steps to do so. Locate the file you wish to download on Dropbox. Select Export from the three-dot menu icon next to the file. Tap the Available offline toggle just below this option if you simply want to make sure a file is available in the Dropbox app when you lose internet connectivity. Choose Store to device and save the file to a location of your choosing. When you save a file locally, it will be easier to use in other apps. If you wanted to send a photo over Facebook Messenger, for example, you’d have to first download it from Dropbox. If you try to share a file directly through Dropbox, you’ll only be able to make a link to it, which isn’t always what you want. https://cloud-drive-customercare.com/how-to-use-dropbox/

  8. How to Share a Dropbox File for Free? There are a variety of ways to share files from your Dropbox account because it is such an important feature of the service. We’ll go over a few of the most straightforward ones, but you may find that there are other options that better suit your needs. Directly from your computer’s file browser is one of the simplest ways to share files. Follow these instructions to distribute a file this way: Right-click the file you want to share in Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) while browsing. In the context menu, select Share… You’ll be presented with a window where you may input the email addresses of anyone with whom you want to share a file. The procedure is the same whether you’re using a mobile device or a computer. Follow these procedures to share a file from either of these locations:

  9. The file can be found on the web or in the mobile app. Hover over the file on the web and click the Share button. On a mobile device, hit the three-dot menu button and select Share. Fill in the name or email address of the person with whom you’d want to share the file. If desired, type a message and then click Share. Alternatively, click Create a link at the bottom of the dialogue box to generate a shareable link that you can send to anybody. Copy the URL and paste it into your preferred messaging or email program. Why Pictures not uploading to Dropbox? Camera Upload is one of the most useful features of the mobile app. Any photographs and/or videos you take will be immediately saved to a separate Camera Uploads folder. If you don’t have any data constraints, you can set it to just upload over Wi-Fi or to use mobile data. Here’s how to activate it: In the mobile app, hit Settings from the left-hand menu. Under the Features section, tap Camera Uploads. Toggle the Camera Uploads switch on.

  10. You may also enable video uploads, background uploading (which will upload files while you’re doing other things if your battery is above 30%), and customise how and when files are uploaded on this page. You can upload any file over Wi-Fi only, any file over cellular data, or even photographs over cellular data, but video files are for Wi-Fi only. How to Enable Dropbox Selective Sync If your desktop has plenty of storage but your laptop doesn’t, syncing all of your Dropbox files can be a hassle. As a result, the service provides Selective Sync. This functionality allows you to select which folders on a device will be synchronised. For instance, if you wish to sync all of your spreadsheets but not your photo collection on your laptop, this function will allow you to do so. Follow these steps to set it up: Select Preferences from the Dropbox icon in your system tray, then click the Settings button in the top-right corner. Selective Sync… is located on the Sync tab in the window that emerges. Check the box next to each folder you want to sync in the window that displays. Uncheck any directories that you don’t want to sync.

  11. Only the folders that you checked will remain synced once you implement these modifications. If any files in unchecked folders were previously synchronized, this will also erase them from your device. Those files will still be available on the web and on any other devices where they’re synchronized, but you’ll have to re-download them if you need them on that device again. Dropbox works on its own once you’ve set it up and adjusted it to your preference. You’ll have all of your files on all of your devices, and you’ll never be without what you need when you need it. Don’t forget to use Zapier’s Dropbox connections to automate your Dropbox, which will allow you to do things like upload files to Dropbox from other apps and save Google Docs to Dropbox.
