  1. Common causes that lead to hearing problems Hearing loss may occur for a variety of reasons, but there are some that are common. Doctors of ENT will decide what knowledge and resources are required to provide a better quality of life for those with hearing loss by investigating any of these causes.

  2. Aging Hearing loss as a result of ageing is a progressive loss. Age-related hearing loss has no single cause, but it is caused by changes in the inner ear that arise as you get older.

  3. Injuries When the head or ears are struck, there is a risk of hearing loss due to movement of the bones in the middle ear or damage to the inner ear. Surgery by ear specialists will also restore this hearing loss. Most times, the hearing loss is permanent and no surgical treatment is available.

  4. Noise Exposure Repetitive exposure to loud noises, such as those generated by music, power tools, farm machinery, and other sources, may also result in hearing loss. Hearing loss can occur gradually at times or suddenly at others. This hearing loss is most usually caused by the loud sound damaging the inner ear structures, but in serious cases of exposure, an excessively loud sound (for example, an explosion or gunshot close to the ear) can burst an eardrum or break the small bones in the middle ear.

  5. Disease Hearing loss may be caused by conditions such as otosclerosis, Ménière's disease, meningitis, Otitis Media (ear infections), and others. Diseases affect the ears in a variety of ways, so the impact of a disease on hearing varies. Medicines Ototoxic medications are those that cause ear damage and hearing loss. Certain forms of hearing loss may be acute or permanent. Damaged ear sections are the common denominator of all causes of hearing loss. Because of the ear's complexity, there are many reasons, and it is best to consult with an audiologist if you are experiencing hearing loss.
