What is a pump station? Buying a new pump station can be a difficult task, especially if you have no prior knowledge or experience in the field. You are sure to have many questions about the products available, and at A&C Pumps we find that potential customers ask the same questions over and over again. • In the following blog, we'll address each of these questions in detail, providing you with all the information you need to purchase a sewage pump station and (hopefully!) clearing up some of the confusion.
What is a packaged pump station? • A pump station is a mechanical device made of impact-resistant polyethylene that includes a large sump (or tank), internal piping, a float switch, and one or two pumps.
Do I need to buy the pump and pump station separately? • In short, the answer is no. If you're looking to purchase a pump system for the first time, it's best to opt for one of our packaged pump stations. These are already equipped with the necessary piping and switches, and include either one or two sewage pumps (i.e. single and dual models). • We also have an extensive range of sewage, macerator and submersible pumps that you can purchase separately if, for example, you need to replace the pump in an existing station.
How does a pump station work? • Essentially, the components of a sewage lifting station work together to move wastewater from one location to another. Wastewater gradually collects in the chamber, and once it reaches a certain level, the float switch is triggered and the pump automatically kicks into action. • This pump then generates sufficient pressure to move the wastewater out of the tank and push it uphill and/or horizontally through the piping (against gravity) toward the main sewer line. • The pump station no longer needs to be switched on and off manually. Thanks to an additional float switch, it is simply activated when needed and turns itself off when the job is done.
Do I need a pump station? • As a general rule of thumb, a sewage pumping station is required when wastewater cannot be conveyed by gravity toward the main sewer line. This is usually because the piping is uphill or horizontal, such as from a bathroom in the basement to the second floor of the house. • Investing in a pump station can also make sense if your sewer line runs over elevations and bumps, or if it would be too expensive to do earthwork. Rather than installing a completely new gravity sewer system, a much cheaper (but just as effective) option is usually to buy a pump station as a package - like those available at A&C Pumps.
Where can a sewage pumping station be installed? • Sewage pumping station come in a variety of sizes and designs. As a result, they are suitable for use in a variety of residential and commercial settings. This ranges from houses, apartments and outbuildings to schools, hospitals, apartment complexes, multi-family dwellings and more. If your property is not connected to the sewer system or is located below the main sewer line, there is a suitable pumping system - here at A&C Pumps - to take care of your wastewater.
Do I need one or two pumps? • That depends on the amount of wastewater you need to hold and pump. For example, if your sewage pump station is for a private three-bedroom home, one pump is probably enough. If, on the other hand, the pump station is to be used in a large apartment block, a commercial building or several houses, you will need a dual system instead. • For more info visit - https://thepumppeople.co.uk/
