Introduction • Almost exactly a year after it was launched the Tata Altroz has received a vital boost quite literally with the addition of a new turbo petrol engine version called the iturbo. The newest addition to the altroz's range packs a slightly lower spec derivative of the 1.2 liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine we've experienced in the Tata Nexon. In Tata Altroz the engine produces 110 horsepower and 140 Newton meters of torque, which are a substantial increase from the standard Altroz petrol's 1.2 liter naturally aspirated engines figures of 86 horsepower and 113 Newton meters.
The “i” in the iturbo denotes intelligent and Tata says it had to make specific adaptations to this engine to make it better suited to the Altroz. The i-turbo also comes with different drive modes for city and sport instead of the standard cars city and eco modes. For now, the only gearbox option for the Tata Altroziturbo is a 5 speed manual but Tata is readying a dual clutch automatic gearbox that will be introduced at a later date. Tata claims the Altroziturbo will do the 0-100 kph dash in under 12 seconds, which will make it notably quicker than the naturally aspirated Tata Altroz petrol.

Interior and exterior changes • The Tata Altroziturbo marks the debut of a new harbor blue paint option for its customers. The iturbo badge remains exactly the same as the standard car in terms of design and styling and devoid of any additional Iturbo specific queues and of course, the Altroz remains the only hatchback in the country with a “5-star safety rating” from global end cap. • The big change is the addition of a black and grey color scheme leatherette seats and Tata’s intelligent real-time assist or IRA suite of features. We first saw IRA on the Tata Nexon facelift and it brings some connected car features including jio fencing and remote controls navigation by just three words and natural voice commands in English and Hindi. The other features include an express cool function that maximizes cooling, a 7-inch touch-screen system with android, automatic headlights drain sensing wipers and ambient lighting.
Tata AltrozVarients • Tata will offer the Altroz's high turbo in the top 3 trim levels XT, XZ and the new fully loaded XZ+ variant bookings and test drives of the iturbo will begin shortly and it will be launched on January 22marking exactly one year to the day the Altroz was launched expect prices for the iturbo to be in the range of 8 to 9 lakh rupees. According to the latest reports, Rs. 8,27,059 would be the on-road price of Tata Altroz in Jaipur.
