  1. Emfovir (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) tablet

  2. Overview Emfovir is a combination of two medications and it contains Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate and Emtricitabine as active ingredients. This tablet specifically belongs to a group of medications known as antiretrovirals. This medication is used to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection and managing AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). Emfovir tablets help in decreasing the amount of virus from the body. To avoid side effects like diarrhea and dizziness, keep yourself hydrated and get plenty of rest. Pharmacodynamics Emtricitabine (Emfovir): It is a synthetic nucleoside analog of cytidine. This compound is phosphorylated by cellular enzymes for the formation of emtricitabine 5'-triphosphate. Emtricitabine works to inhibit the activity of the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) through competing with the natural substrate deoxycytidine 5'-triphosphate and by incorporating it into nascent viral DNA resulting in chain termination. The compound is a weak inhibitor of mammalian DNA polymerase alpha, beta, epsilon, and mitochondrial DNA polymerase gamma.
