A Brief Knowledge of Different Educational Programs in the UK In the United Kingdom, primary and lower-secondary education is obligatory for all children between the ages of five and sixteen; the majority of students are between the ages of five and sixteen. The academic year runs from the end of September or the beginning of October to June, and instruction is given in English. The majority of schools follow a trimester plan, which consists of three ten-week academic semesters. As previously noted, the Scottish system has the most substantial variations among the United Kingdom's educational frameworks.
