  1. Uganda By: Sarah & Karlee

  2. Location!!!! • This vibrant place is located in East African nation bordered by Sudan, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic. The capital is Kampala.

  3. Religion!!! • 66% of Uganda’s population are Christian. They are almost equally divided among Protestants and Roman Catholic.

  4. Ethnicity & Foods • There are many ethnic groups in Uganda and they are Baganda, Banyankole, Bahima, Banyarwanda, Bunyoroi, Batoro, Langi, Acholi and many more. • In Uganda there main foods are sweet potatoes, bananas, plantains, jack fruits, chicken, beef stew, freshwater fish, yams, corn, cabbage, pumpkin, tomatoes, beans, goat meat, oranges, lemons and pineapple. There favorite though are plantains.

  5. Language & Population!!! • The main language is English, but there is also Ganda and Laganaa. • There population is 26,907,000!!!!

  6. Clothing!!! • There national clothing is called a Busuti which are colorful saris. • There winter clothing is light and casual, maybe jackets or jerseys. • The school clothing includes cotton shirts and shorts and at home the children wear dresses, blouses, skirts, and shorts. The men wear shirts and long pants, and the women wear bright long printed dresses with bloated sleeves and a colorful sash.

  7. Government!!! • The president who is both head of state and head of government, is elected by popular vote for a five year term. Uganda’s government is limited. There government type is Republic. Some of the leaders are, President- Museveni. The Congressmen- Milton Obote. DP- Paul Ssemogerere. CP- Ken Lukymauzi.

  8. Natural resources and Important places!!!! • The natural resources are copper, cobalt, hydropower, limestone, salt, arable land, and gold. • One important place is Entebbe which is the major gateway for air travelers. It has beautiful botanical gardens and a lakeside beach. One more is Fort Portal which is a good base exploring the Moon, The Hot Springs, and the Toro Game Reserve.

  9. Industry and Exports!!!! • In the industry there is sugar, brewing, tobacco, cotton, and cement. • There exports are coffee, fish, fish products, tea, and gold.

  10. Agriculture and Traditions!!! • There agriculture is coffee, tea, cotton, tobacco, and beef • One very important tradition in Uganda is music.

  11. Physical features and Lifestyle!!! • Some of the physical features are, the Ruwenzori Range, Mount Margherita, Owen Falls, Nile River, and Lake Albert. • The jobs available in Uganda for women that stay at home do domestic work and the women that do work do office work. The men’s jobs that stay at home are farming and making things and the one’s that do work do official work like those in other countries.

  12. Idi Amin!!! • Idi Amin became known as the “Butcher of Uganda”, for his brutal despotic rule. People say he is possibly the most notorious of all independent dictators. He seized power in a military coup in 1971 and ruled over Uganda for 8yrs. 100,000 to half a million people were either killed, tortured, or imprisoned. He was ousted in 1979 by Ugandan nationalists. He died august 16, 2003 at 80 years old.
