  1. Student name: Current level: Target level: Year 9 Cycle 2 – Short stories– In this unit you will read a range of short stories: Detail, Lamb to the Slaughter, Examination Day, Reunion and more. You will be expected to read short stories outside of school and visit a library regularly so that you are developing your reading and writing skills. Your main assessment piece will be focused on your writing; a short story. Your reading will be assessed through analysis of an extract of Lamb to the Slaughter. • Level 3: • My writing is usually organised and I try to be imaginative. AF1 • I use simple and generally appropriate vocabulary. AF7 • I can spell most common words correctly. I can spell some compound words correctly. AF8 • Level 4 • I can write in a range of forms. My writing can be lively and thoughtful.AF1 • I am using expanded vocabulary to match the topic of my writing. I can show I have deliberately chosen certain words. AF7 • I am able to spell most common words accurately including those with multiple morphemes. AF8 • Level 5 • I can write in a variety of interesting ways. I can convey my meaning clearly.
