High Level Goals • Long Term Goal - Motivate and prepare hundreds of bright SF Bay Area HS students – half of whom are educationally disadvantaged – to extend their science knowledge and interest in research by participating in a science fair or competition • Short Term Goals • Plan and implement pilot program in 2011-12 to expose minimum 300 HS students to science fairs/competitions • Support minimum 50 HS students to enter local, regional, state or national science fair/competition • Support at least 50% of those HS students to win an award at a science fair/competition annually • Evaluate impact of pilot program to implement program enhancements and improvements for future years.

Objectives • Anticipated Outcomes: • Expose 300 HS students to science fairs/competitions annually (2,000/5 years) • Support 50 HS students to enter local, regional, state or national science fair/competition annually (300/5 years) • Support at least 50% of those HS students to win an award at a science fair/competition in 2012 (150/5 years) • Focus on students who are first generation, low income or under-represented minorities (at least 50% of participants)
