Institutionalframework Responsiblegovernmentalinstitution for biodiversity: • MinistryofEnvironmnetaland Nature Protection (MENP) • State Institute for Nature Protection (SINP) • Stakeholders: otherministriesandpublicinstitutions, NGOs, scientificinstitutions • EEA NFP – CroatianEnvironmentAgency (CEA) establishedin June 2002 by Governmentalregulation, as a publicinstitution

CEA • EnvironmentalProtection Act (O.G. 80/2013) • The Agency - cooperate with the EEA and report in accordance with the requirements of the EIONET. • The activities of the Agency include: • Obligation for preparation of the state ofenvironment reportevery 4 years based on theset of environmental indicators • Developing the National indicator liston the basis of special regulations and international treaties, taking into account specific requirements for the environmental protection. NLI regularly updated and published at the website of the CEA.

EEA reporting Cooperation with EEA: CEA to participate in EIONET since 2004 CEA coordinates reporting under EEA Priority Data Flows/ CDDA (Common Database on Designated Areas) and uploads database on CDR Croatia. Database is provided by SINP and Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection. Major developments Priority Data Flow score 2005 → 17% Priority Data Flow score 2007 → 71% Priority Data Flow score 2009 → 78% Priority Data Flow score 2011 → 89% Priority Data Flow score 2012 → 92%(+3)

CDDA Report: Eionetpriority data flows, May 2012–April 2013 (EEA) Data flow analysis for Croatia • Progress2012–2013 CDDA1:Designated areas • Delivery on time: 437 sites reported. • All siteshave information on IUCN category, size,coordinates and site designation. • Boundaries havebeen reported for all sites.

NLI - integratedtool for implementingthemonitoringandenvironmentalreporting • 245 datasheets for 27 topics - 19 biodiversity indicators

National List of Indicators • The National list of indicators includes prescriptions on the time dynamics of data collection, format, source and mode of data flow. • The proposal of the list was coordinated with the EEA in order to align it with the SEBI set of indicators. • The methodology to develop biodiversity indicators in Croatia was also developed.
