  2. Directions: • Scroll through the presentation and enter the answers (which are really the questions) and the questions (which are really the answers). • Enter in the categories on the main game boards. • As you play the game, click on the TEXT DOLLAR AMOUNT that the contestant calls, not the surrounding box. • When they have given a question, click again anywhere on the screen to see the correct question. Keep track of which questions have already been picked by printing out the game board screen and checking off as you go. • Click on the “Game” box to return to the main scoreboard. • Enter the score into the black box on each players podium. • Continue until all clues are given. • When finished, DO NOT save the game. This will overwrite the program with the scores and data you enter. You MAY save it as a different name, but keep this file untouched!

  5. $100 One method of indirect firefighting is flooding a sealed area with this.

  6. $100 What is water? Scores

  7. $200 For a fire to be treated as these “Classes”, power must first be cut off to electrical equipment.

  8. $200 What are Class “A” or “B” fires? Scores

  9. $300 These “Class” fires involve combustible liquids.

  10. $300 What are Class “B” fires? Scores

  11. $400 The name given to small hydrogen explosions, fairly common in firefighting.

  12. $400 What are hydrogen pops? Scores

  13. $500 Electrical fires are best extinguished by non-conducting agents such as these.

  14. $500 What are Carbon Dioxide and certain dry chemicals? Scores

  15. $100 These are used to permit two air currents to cross without the intake air short-circuiting into the return.

  16. $100 What are overcasts? Scores

  17. $200 Once ventilation has been re-established, these people can take over the rehabilitation and cleanup efforts.

  18. $200 What are nonapparatus crews? Scores

  21. Daily Double

  22. $400 These must be taken in the returns near the fire area to determine if the mine atmosphere is potentially explosive.

  23. $400 What are gas readings? Scores

  24. $500 Before doing this, the team should make sure the main fan is running, a guard is monitoring the operation of the fan, and that tests are being made at the main return for any gases that may be present in the mine.

  25. $500 What is go underground? Scores

  26. $100 Lighter than air, this is Methane’s specific gravity.

  27. $100 What is 0.5545? Scores

  28. $200 In above normal concentrations, Nitrogen is this.

  29. $200 What is an asphyxiant? Scores

  30. $300 Gases with specific gravities greater than 1.0 tend to seek these.

  31. $300 What are low places? Scores

  32. $400 Although not flammable or explosive, this gas is a supporter of combustion.

  33. $400 What is Oxygen? Scores

  34. $500 A mixture of this reduces the explosive limit of methane.

  35. $500 What is coal dust in air? Scores

  36. $100 When searching for survivors, it is important to do both of these.

  37. $100 What is look and listen for clues? Scores

  38. $200 After going underground to explore for a fire or fight a fire, the team should know about these in the affected area.

  39. $200 What are possible ignition sources? Scores

  40. $300 When traveling though this, all teams should hold on to the lifeline or be linked together by means of a linkline.

  41. $300 What is smoke? Scores

  42. $400 Pools of water can release these when they are stirred up.

  43. $400 What are water soluble gases? Scores

  45. $500 What are dinner buckets? Scores

  46. $100 In mines where this coal is left, a fire will spread more rapidly.

  47. $100 What is head coal? Scores

  48. $200 Gases with specific gravities less than 1.0 will seek these places.

  49. $200 What are high places? Scores

  50. $300 Explosions in coal mines are most often caused by methane and this material, or a combination of the two.
