Goals a) Ensure that students are well grounded in Basic Medical Sciences to equip them with the knowledge and skills that could be deployed in scientific and clinical research into contemporary health problems and also to initiate research into the mystery surrounding health problems lacking a clear cut solution. b) Ensure that students understand medicine within the framework of different social, economic and cultural situations. c) Inculcate students of the University with problem solving, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills. d) Prepare students for Licensing Examinations, such as the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs), Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE), the Caribbean Association of Medical Council (CAMC) Examination, Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) Test, etc. and also for smooth transition from predominantly classroom and laboratory –based preclinical component of the medical program to clinical clerkships in the hospital and residency training. e) Produce graduates with strong moral and ethical basis for the practice of medicine
