  1. Rules for Dimensioning Angles and Inclined Surfaces Period 1 Technical Graphics By: Mitch, Cole, Johan, Skyler, Clio, Cici, Colin and Ruark

  2. Rule A Extend the surface of the angle with extension lines and place the numbers on the inside with the dimension lines and arrowheads on the outside, pointing in. Angles may be dimensioned inside the basic shape; or on the views only if it serves to clarify the dimensioning. 3 45o

  3. Rule B It may be necessary to place the numbers outside the extension line, also. 16°

  4. Rule C Circular dimension lines should be drawn with the compass point placed at the vertex of the angle.

  5. Rule D Lettering is generally done on horizontal guidelines. .75 2.5 .5 1

  6. Rule E Circular guidelines may be used for large angles as shown. 90o

  7. Two Methods for this Dimensioning Coordinate: Used for accuracy, but requires located corners and two dimensions. Angular: Uses one dimension, and the measurement of angle written in degrees, minutes (‘), and seconds (‘’). If only given in degrees, the number is followed by a degree symbol.

  8. Size and Location Size dimensions give the size of basic geometric shapes and forms. Location dimensions locate these basic shapes with respect to each other. Always dimension size and location of each feature. (As well as height, depth, and length of details and views.)
