  2. INTRODUCTION • Did you know that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was born here in British Columbia? Well now you do. This is the biography on him. I chose him because … well he is one of my favourite hockey players. He is the 1st line center man on the Edmonton Oilers. In this presentation it will give you lots of information about him.

  3. Ryans Parents Dad Mom Deb Nugent is Ryans mom. The reason Ryans parents have different last names is that when Ryan was 9 his parents got divorced. Roger Hopkins is Ryans dad. When Ryan was a young boy he always wanted him to play baseball. One day Roger took Ryan to the hockey rink. Roger said “when he picked up a stick he just loved it.”

  6. Personality Traits In all of the years that Ryan played hockey he showed great leadership and sportsmanship. In all of the years that Ryan played hockey he was always confident. He was the captain of team Canada at the world juniors. He was also the captain of his Burnaby Winter Club Peewee team that he led to a Quebec tournament quarter final berth.

  7. Ryan as a kid During Ryans childhood he always shot pucks in his basement. When Ryan was in peewee and playing for B.W.C he led his team to a quarter final berth in a Quebec tournament.

  8. Important life event # 1 In 2011 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was selected 1st overall in the N.H.L entry draft. When Ryan heard Steve Tambellini say “ The Edmonton Oilers are proud to select from the Red Deer Rebels Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Ryan was so excited.

  9. Important life event # 2 In Ryans rookie season with the Oilers other Oilers fans said that he had better eyesight on the ice than Wayne Gretzky.

  10. Turn of events When Ryan was a young boy his dad wanted him to play baseball but as soon as Ryan picked up a hockey stick he could just not let go of it. Ryan was so passionate about the game of hockey.

  11. Claim to fame During Ryans junior hockey career and his draft year he was ranked as the #1 prospect and was drafted 1st overall.

  12. Contributions and defining moments • Ryan contributes in a way to help others by playing hockey to support cancer. Ryans defining moment was when he was named captain of team Canada’s 2012 world junior team.

  13. Accomplishments and awards One thing that Ryan accomplished in 2011 is that he was drafted 1st overall. Awards W.H.L rookie of the year.

  14. Setbacks One thing that set Ryan back in his career was his shoulder injury. His shoulder injury stopped him from playing in the N.H.L all star game.
