  16. Site-Effect Analysis for Earthquake-Endangered Bucharest (ref. SFP-981882) Since January 2006 experts from Germany and Romania have worked on a project to assess the likely nature of earthquake damage at specific sites in Bucharest. This has involved the identification of factors that amplify earthquake waves near the surface. Their approach has been to recover soil and rock samples from newly drilled boreholes, in order to assess the local geology, take in situ seismic measurements and conduct geotechnical static and dynamic tests.
