Steroids • Synthetic derivatives of the male hormone Testosterone. • When used as medicine, it can help build muscles in patients with chronic diseases. • When used illegally, it is taken without an actual dosage and it causes mood swings and abnormally violent and aggressive behavior referred to as “Roid Rage”

  3. Other problems associated with Steroid Use • High Blood Pressure • Acne • Baldness at an early age • Increased liver damage • Heart disease • Increased growth of body hair and facial hair • Stroke from clogged arteries • Depression • Decreased male sperm production long term • Decreased testicle size • Increased in breast size

  4. Cannabis Derivatives • This is the scientific name for the hemp plant which is used in two forms illegally: • 1. Marijuana • 2. Hashish • Its effects act as both a stimulant and depressant. • Be prepared to know the Physical and Psychological effects of Cannabis on page 588.

  5. Inhalants • Glue, Spray Paints, Aerosols, Lighter Fluid, and Gasoline are a few. • They depress the central nervous system and produce effects similar to those of alcohol. • Be prepared to know the physical and psychological effects of Inhalants on page 589
