The Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale calculates the likelihood of becoming ill due stressful life events experienced over the past 2 years. • over 300 points: high to very high chance • 150 – 299: moderate to high chance • under 150: low to moderate chance Death of a spouse: 100 Divorce: 73 Jail term: 63 Getting married: 50 Marriage reconciliation: 45 Death of close friend: 37 Large mortgage: 31 31. Change in work hours: 20 Moderate loan: 17 41. Vacation: 13 Christmas: 12 Minor violations of the law: 11

  8. Dealing with the stressor of busyness Am I willing to work (hard) on dealing with my busyness? For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance…. (2 Peter 1:5-6)

(And if not…at least stop whining.) • Add 3 things to your already busy life: • God time(“15 minutes in your chair”) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16

  12. Dealing with the stressor of busyness • Am I willing to work (hard) on “fixing” my busyness? (And if not…at least stop whining.) • Add 3 things to your already busy life: • Rest time (a rhythm/cycle of rest) Psalm 46:10 (be still….) Matthew 1:32-35, 6:31-34 (go to a quiet place)
