  7. Soci-Economic Status This the biggest area of concern for Harvie Elementary.

  8. Discipline • Harvie ES had the most discipline referrals • Aggressive and violent behaviors • Referrals to New Bridge • Support staff taken out of rooms to help • Over 200 referrals written for behaviors

  9. Analysis of Data • Biggest hurdle to academic success, in my view, is soci-economic status. • Students do not have the same means or opportunities as others. • Even with additional funding through Title I, we still are lagging behind. • What can we do to ensure success? • Discipline is also a contributing factor. • Time is taken away from instruction. • Support staff is being pulled from classes to assist. • Not meeting all students needs when discipline occurs.

  10. Conclusions: What Can We Do? • Tutoring programs • Parent Involvement • PALS • Watch Dogs • Classes for parents • Consistent discipline policy • Follow through with parent support with discipline • New strategies for teachers • Discipline team
