  5. We’re recognised as industry leaders for our environmental initiatives One of the first four companies to receive the Carbon Trust Water Standard Vee Gururajan

  6. We looked at the long-term strategy for water supply • Working closely with the EA... • We measured our water balance and drew up a detailed water map • We’ve introduced a number of water-saving initiatives Vee Gururajan

  7. We ‘think global and act local’ • There were specific drivers for change at the Lincoln site: • Discharge consent renewal • Water tariff threshold • Disposal of AD plant digestate Vee Gururajan

  8. The approach for the South West site was driven by a long-term need • Mains water scarcity in the area • Restrictions to mains connection • Effluent costs • Borehole water supply • We now rely mainly on borehole water (which we recycle) • Mains water is just used for ‘topping up’ Vee Gururajan

  9. Recycling plants have reduced our mains water consumption by 60% • Relieved water stress in the area • Reduced the quantity of effluent • Improved the quality of effluent • Saved us money! Vee Gururajan
