  1. Paying the Pastors • (1 Corinthians 9:11-14) If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?...{13} Don't you know that those who work in the temple get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar? {14} In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.

  2. Finding strength to keep going • (Hebrews 12:2-3) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. {3} Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

  3. The Famine in Jerusalem 1st Century • (Acts 11:27-30) During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. {28} One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) {29} The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea (Jerusalem). {30} This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

  4. The Famine in India right now • Dr. Donza Thawng of Manipur, India, reported at IFCA convention in Kalamazoo June, 2009. • Once in 100 year famine – Rains followed by rat infestation killed crops.
