How CIGRE works? • Conferences * Session, every other year * Symposium : 2 in between * Other meetings - National, regional, colloquium.. • Study Committees and WGs * Permanent structures * Coordinated by a Technical Committee • Dissemination of information * Publications, Tutorials, Workshops.. * Technical library: e-cigre JK 07/09/09

  5. Main Directions of Work • Prepare the future systems / Supply energy - everywhere! * Transmission UHV; * Dispersed generation- Renewables * Isolated zones; megacities • Use efficiently existing assets • Help implement new technologies • Answer environment concerns JK 07/09/09

  6. CIGRE is active and reactive • WGs * Dec. 2008: 177 WGs ( it means some 2000 experts involved) * In 2008: 37 WGs created 32 WGs disbanded • WGs Publications * In 2008: 28 TBs published JK 07/09/09

CIGRE is «open» • Open to new members * 2008: 1176 new Individual members ( 284 « young ») 109 new Collective members • Benefit for members • Importance of contributing to WGs * Networking and added value * Promoting your ideas - your country’s * Personal enhancement • The National Committees: their role is central JK 07/09/09
