  2. What is an adjective? • A word that modifies a noun. • A descriptive adjective is a word that describes a noun.

  3. How are adjectives in French different than adjectives in English? • In French, adjectives must AGREE in gender and number with the noun that they modify. • Meaning, that if you have a feminine noun, then your adjective must be feminine as well. • You can think of this as the AAA rule. • AAA= ADJECTIVES ALWAYS AGREE AAA

  8. Adjectives that end in –e • Adjectives that already end in an unaccented “-e” will not add another “-e” in the feminine form. • Look in your book and find all of the adjectives that already end in “-e”.

  24. Adjective Agreement • Adjectives must modify the noun to which they refer. • Barbie est blonde. • What/Who is blond? •  Barbie • Barbie is the noun that you are modifying. • Since Barbie is feminine, then the adjective is feminine.

  38. Irregular Adjectives • A number of adjectives are called irregular, because they do not have the normal -e, -s, or -es endings. • The endings of these irregular adjectives vary widely and often change the pronunciation.
