  1. Code Enforcement Board Presentation to the Board of County Commissioners December 15, 2009

Code Enforcement Board • Seven members appointed on the basis of experience or interest in the fields of zoning and building control • Shall include, whenever possible: • An architect • A business person • An engineer/surveyor • A general contractor • A subcontractor • A licensed real estate broker or licensed real estate salesman

  3. Code Enforcement Board • Has jurisdiction to hear and decide alleged violations of the codes and ordinances in force in the county • Has the authority to levy fines against those persons found in non-compliance of county codes • Subject to the inclusion of those professional specialties, each district of the county shall be represented by at least one member. Districts 1 and 4 are not currently represented. • Meets third Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. • Financial Disclosure Required

  4. Code Enforcement Board • Vernice Atkins-Bradley and Sheila Lafont have resigned. Both of them were serving in the business person category • The terms of two members, Phillip Hollis and Jean Sandor will expire December 31, 2009.

  5. Code Enforcement Board • FIRST ACTION REQUESTED: Appointment of an individual to succeed Vernice Atkins-Bradley on the Code Enforcement Board with a term expiring December 31, 2010.

  6. Code Enforcement Board • SECOND ACTION REQUESTED: Appointment of an individual to succeed Sheila I. Lafont on the Code Enforcement Board with a term expiring December 31, 2011.

  7. Code Enforcement Board • THIRD ACTION REQUESTED: Reappointment of Phillip Hollis to the Code Enforcement Board with a term expiring December 31, 2012 or appointment of an individual to succeed him.

  8. Code Enforcement Board • FOURTH ACTION REQUESTED: Reappointment of Jean Sandor to the Code Enforcement Board with a term expiring December 31, 2012 or appointment of an individual to succeed her.

  9. Membership and Mission Review Board Appointments

  10. Membership and Mission Review Board • Makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners concerning appointments to advisory boards. • Conducts sunset reviews of advisory boards. • Meets third Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m.

Membership and Mission Review Board • Nine members: one appointed from each of the county commission districts upon recommendation of the district commissioner; one member appointed by the Mayor; and two at large members appointed by the full Board of County Commissioners. • The terms of the two at large members, Ronald Rogers and Evelyn Rivera, will expire December 31, 2009.

  12. Membership and Mission Review Board • FIRST ACTION REQUESTED: Reappointment of Ronald Rogers to the Membership and Mission Review Board with a term expiring December 31, 2011 or appointment of an individual to succeed him.

  13. Membership and Mission Review Board • SECOND ACTION REQUESTED: Reappointment of Evelyn Rivera to the Membership and Mission Review Board with a term expiring December 31, 2011 or appointment of an individual to succeed her.

Planning and Zoning Commission • Reviews requests for zoning changes; establishes principles and policies for guiding the development of Orange County, and promotes orderly development along the lines indicated in the Comprehensive Policy Plan. • Meets third Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. • Financial Disclosure Required
