  6. What is CERT? Educates about disaster preparedness. Assists when professional responders are not immediately available. Takes a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

  7. Better understanding of potential threats. • Learn steps to lessen the effects of hazards. • Give critical support until help arrives. • Provide useful information to responders. How does CERT benefit the community?

  8. Putting the pieces together Become active members in pipeline awareness and safety. Work with first responders and play an active role in emergencies. Public awareness of pipelines and emergency operations.

  9. Community / Safety • The nation must learn from our experiences. • It is not a matter of IF but WHEN and WHERE another spill will occur. • Through CERT you and your community can be prepared.
