  1. The tricks of Advertisements What’s really hiding backstage… Created by C.A.R.

  2. What is advertising? Emotion Lying Color Slogan Animation Humor Cartoons Design Music Sound Effects Motion Bandwagon Conclusion Other Tricks Credits Table of Contents

  3. What is Advertising? • Advertising is trying to sell your product on the radio or on television. They have many tricks to make you buy, and they are the tricks you will learn today.

  4. Emotion • When you make an ad., you need to make sure that the actors give emotion in their skits. If we see a chocolate ad with a boy that’s serious, are you really going to buy that kind of chocolate?

  5. Lying • Ah! Lying. That is one of the easiest things in ads. Sometimes when you go backstage, the actors are complaining that the product tastes disgusting, or the the cream or item is scratchy or it burns or etc…

  6. Colour • Colour is important in ads. Will you buy a product when there is no colour? But it’s not good to exaggerate either! You usually don’t feel like buying a flashy dress that is last year, do you?

  7. Slogan • A slogan is a catchy phrase that can be used to sell the product. In example, for the Band-Aid ad.,”I am stuck on a Band-Aid and the Band-Aid’s stuck on me”…

  8. Animation With animation in the ad, you can create things that nobody or nothing can do in reality like make oranges dance in the Tropicana ad.

  9. Humour Humour is good for an ad. because the ad. would look more fun the the viewers that the product is fun and enjoying even sometimes it is not. Humour is a strategy of advertisers

  10. Cartoons Sometimes they use cartoons to attract kids and sell the product like a DVD. The kids trick is to make the cartoon to move and to talk like if he was talking to you so the kids love it. The character says (example of Shrek) Hey come and buy my DVD and you will get a free Shrek toy! So it is good to have cartoons in your ad.

  11. Design • A design can control the mood of the person how they will be. Like the image at the top is smooth you feel calm. The image under feels rough and tough so boys feel like fighting. When he is in the mood, the presenter tries to sell the product and there is many chances that the guy watching will buy.

  12. So next next time you see a ad and it’s a song that you like, think before buying the product.Do you really need it? You should look what its for and ask the doctor if you need it. Music • Most of the time, they will put music in the ad like jazz, hip-hop, country, rap, classic, rock and roll etc… If they don’t put music, they will probably put sound effects. Some times people will buy the products cause it a song that they really like. In ads., they usually put popular songs.

  13. In example people will do sounds like boom with machines if there is an explosion or a thinking sound. Sound Effects • People make sound effect on the ads to make you buy the product.

  14. Motion Example: In a Red Bull ad., they will run slow motion and when they drink the Red Bull, they will run fast motion because it is an energizing drink. • Motion is good on an ad. If they put cream on them, they won’t run fast motion to put on the ad. They want us to see how relaxed they are when they put the cream on.People will put both slow motion and fast motion on the ad.

  15. Bandwagon • Bandwagon is people that repeat the thing that someone started. Budweiser started the “Wassup?!” add and now someone says it to someone else and he repeats it over and over and over…That’s the technique we call bandwagon

  16. Conclusion • So, have you learned anything? This project was made to show you what tricks you might fall for when you are shopping.

  17. Other Tricks • Did you know that: • When people try to sell their house’s, they sometimes cook spaghetti sauce to get the other people thinking about their sweet homes. • In shops, people unleash the sweet odor of cinnamon to attract more people • To make food look good, they sometimes paint the food. Ex: They might put lipstick on strawberries to make them look better. Or paint chicken with a special kind of paint and then cook it.
